Today in 1st Grade Art Mrs Schlecht worked with the students on their dogs they were coloring in chalk project. Kids get to learn about several different shapes and techniques in this project. Today we all learned how to use the technique of scumbling. Scumbiling is coloring in a slow circular motion. We also learned that we do not wipe excess chalk away from our drawing but we blow it away so it doesn’t smear. What a great activity and class!! Go Buffs!!
Today Coach Cavenee was teaching kids about the ocean in 7th Grade World Geography. Did you know the largest underwater mountain is 10,000 feet taller then the tallest mountain on Earth that is above water. Lots of cool things to learn. Great job Buffs!!
Dear Elm Creek Families,
It has come to our attention that the yearbook created at the end of last year has several errors. We are currently reviewing the copies we received to identify the errors so we can fix them. We are working with Josten’s Publishing to fix this. They are sending a representative out next week to assist us in getting this done as quickly and accurately as possible. Once done we will reprint the yearbooks and will replace the one you received with the corrected version at no cost to you. We apologize for this issue and any inconveniences this has caused. We have already put new systems in place so this does not happen again. We recognize that yearbooks are a very important keepsake for a student’s time at Elm Creek and we want these to be correct.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Brandon Marquez, Principal
Elm Creek Public Schools

In Mrs Woodman’s 8th Grade Math Class they were working on compare and order of real numbers. We all know <,> and equal to., but these students we’re learning how to figure it out with decimals, fractions, percents, and square roots. It was awesome to see how quick the kids caught on. Great job 8th grade!

In Mr High’s US History class today they continue to learn about the Civil War. Their focus today was on life for civilians that were not fighting in the war during this time. It was interesting to hear about the food shortages of that time. Did you know the American Red Cross was established during this time period?
It's hard to believe the last home contests for Fall Sports season is fast approaching in all sports. We are making a change this year from Parents Night to Senior Night. We are doing this to make sure we are paying tribute to our seniors as they celebrate their last regular season home game in that particular sport, and to make each of them and their families the center of attention. Here is the schedule.
Volleyball Senior Night will beThursday October 6th before starting lineups and National Anthem of V game. We will announce for all non-senior volleyball parents to stand up and be recognized with a round of applause. Then we will announce our senior volleyball players and their parents. When they are announced the parent(s) will come out on the floor with their senior to be recognized.
Football Senior Night Friday October 7th before starting lineups and National Anthem we will announce for all non-senior football parents to stand up and be recognized with a round of applause. Then we will announce our senior football players and their parents. Those parents will come out on the field with their senior to be recognized when they are announced.
Cross Country Senior Night- Friday October 7th there are no seniors, but at half time we will have all parents of cross country runners stand up to be recognized with a round of applause.
